Fox Bandit Golf is a golf journal by Joe Fowler. This page explains how the website and round notebook handle information.

Public pages

You can read the journal without creating an account. Your browser sends ordinary request information to our hosting provider to load pages and images, such as your IP address, browser information, requested address, and request time. External links take you to services with their own privacy practices.

Your private round notebook

The round notebook requires ChatGPT sign-in for online access. The sign-in service supplies an account identifier and email address, and may supply a display name. The notebook uses your identifier to associate saved rounds, course layouts, and bag settings with your account. These private records are not included in public articles unless the editor separately writes and publishes a recap.

The notebook saves information in your browser’s local storage and syncs it to the site’s database when you are signed in and online. A service worker caches the app shell so a previously prepared notebook can work offline. Copies can remain on that device, so use care on shared devices. Clearing browser storage removes local copies but does not by itself delete records already synced to your account. Individual rounds can be deleted using the notebook controls.

Audience measurement

Public pages send a page path and a broad traffic-source category to this site to count page views. The application does not save cookies, cross-site identifiers, full referring URLs or individual browsing histories for this measurement. Daily page/source counts are retained for up to 400 days. These are page views, not unique-visitor counts. The tracking script honors browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals where available and does not run in the private round notebook.

To limit automated abuse, the server temporarily stores keyed one-way digests derived from a network address and a short time bucket, with request counts. Raw network addresses are not stored in these application tables. Expired limit records are removed in bounded cleanup batches. Hosting providers may separately process ordinary request logs.

Email launch list

If you choose to sign up, we save your email address, signup page, consent time and wording version, and a random removal token in the site’s database. The launch list is private to the site owner. Requests are pending: email delivery and email-address confirmation are not active yet. No email is sent by this form. The purpose is to prepare the requested weekly golf updates.

After a new signup, the site shows a personal removal link. Save that link if you want to remove your address later; removing it stops its inclusion in the owner’s launch-list export. A removal request marks the record as unsubscribed. The site owner can export pending requests for use with an email service when delivery is configured. We will update this page before an external email service is connected. The free practice checklist does not require an email address.

Advertising status

Advertising is not currently enabled. We are preparing limited advertising placements on public editorial pages. The private round notebook will remain ad-free.

If Google AdSense is activated, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on previous visits to this website or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies can enable Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to sites across the Internet. The information used for advertising can include identifiers and request information such as IP addresses. Applicable privacy and consent choices will be configured before ads are activated.
